One of our kgb Special Agents was asked Which country invented marshmallows?, and wanted to expound further on the question:
Marshmallows date back to ancient Egypt, originally honey-based and sweet flavored, thickened with sap from the root of the Marsh-Mallow plant (althea officinalis).
More details:
Marsh-Mallow grows in salt marshes and on banks near large bodies of water. It is common in the eastern United States. Until the mid 1800’s, marshmallow candy was made using the sap of the Marsh-Mallow plant. Gelatin replaces the sap in the modern recipes.
Today’s marshmallows are a mixture of corn syrup or sugar, gelatin, gum arabic and flavoring.

Special Agent Damschroder here.
This morning Taylor and I drove thirty minutes to a storage unit to try to solve “The Case of the Missing 9,000 T-shirts” only to discover that they weren’t in that warehouse either. These T-shirts have been missing for over a week and no one seems to know where they have gone. A mystery indeed.
After our wild goose chase, we came to the beach here in Panama City to set up a second KGB booth on the beach. There is one in the MTV village this week and another one outside of the MTV village. The second set up features free flip cup and beer pong for all of the spring breakers. It’s always a hit!
After we set it up the second booth, we found out that we weren’t allowed to be that close to the village so we had to pack it up and move it even further down the beach.
Tonight we went out under cover to stage some fake vomit and falling down videos with the hope that they’ll go viral. I “threw up” oatmeal three times tonight. Here’s to hoping that some one thinks it’s real.
On Sunday the kgb team were originally going to make their way to Tampa. However, MTV Spring Break-Panama-style has been rockin it since we arrived. It was too hard to walk away. All Stanky Legs were required to jive for one more week. Panama or bust, baby!
The kgb hut in the MTV village officially opened yesterday and we had an interesting assortment of Spring Breakers agree to answer three questions for the chance to win not $100, not $200, not even $500 but $542 dollars!!! Why $542 bucks? Text 542 542….you got it now don’t you? Winners are announced every day at 4pm on the MTV stage. And one inebriated college kid can go home a little bit less in debt than when they arrived.
So after a full day of kgb t-shirts flying off the stage out of the hands of agents and into the mosh pit of men and man killers, rockin the beach with bottle openers and the victory laps around town in the kgb squad cars we called what most know as the “day of rest” a true ALL NIGHTER.
Look out for kgb Special Agent’s Shannon and Jamaine to be aired on MTV discussing a very important topic all future spring breakers and kgb’ers should know! But…..
The superstitiously plagued Friday the 13th seemed like nothing but a doomed day from the beginning.
The air was warm, and the beach was barren from spring breakers who drank themselves into near comas – now sleeping so resiliently in bed at 10am.
Two groups graced our presence: The loyal sunbathers who could not forfeit their desire to burn 3 layers of their dermis before returning to their super-cold and dark wintery respective states. The other early-birds were drinkers just plain excited to play flippy-cup.
Our team broke into groups and kgb Special Agent Shannon and Jamaine went to find new Spring Breakers to text their questions to 542542. We were approached by MTV. They filmed us! kgb represents!
Next, kgb Special Agents on MTV Real World? Who knows.
Aloha from amazing Panama City Beach Florida. All the Agents have been working hard out here, on the BEACH!!!! YAY! It’s like they saved the best for last. We have had the privilege of handing out shirts, bottle openers and ’soda’ coozies to all the spring breakers 2009. They love the goodies and we love to tell them about our service.
The worst yet most entertaining things I have seen so far:
- Spring breakers passed out on the white sand beach with writing all over them.
- Very interesting sun burn markings. It’s funny to see the guy who didn’t want his buddy to rub in the sun screen so he attempted to rub it in on his own and now he is cursed with the worst burn marks on his back for the duration of spring break.
- 2 Stealth Bombers that do a fly by about twice a day.
- A helicopter that does back flips.
- The most alcohol consumption I have ever seen in my entire life.
The kgb Special Agents are in Panama City for Spring Break. We asked the Breakers what they really want to know about politics, and most talked about Obama.
