Over the weekend, kgb Special Agents opened twitter pages and began looking for conversations about kgb. There have always been tweets about kgb, and I’ve been monitoring the sentiment about us for a while. Most of them are quite positive. Lots of kgb customers tweet the response they get from us to their questions because they thought it was so good, or funny, or cool. Sometimes, of course, we don’t get it right, and customers tweet about that too.

Often I’ll see tweets that compare us to Google, or ask why someone would use kgb instead of Google. Those are tweets we are particularly interested in responding to. We love Google and use it all the time ourselves. I don’t have to tell you how great it is at finding information. Everyone knows that.

But kgb is different. When you’re out and about, or when you need a quick, accurate answer to any question, anytime, anywhere, that’s when kgb is very useful and time-saving. And all you need is your mobile phone. So try us at 542542 and let us know what you think.

In the meantime follow our Twitter Team @kgbKathleen, @kgbAndrea, @kgbKris, @kgbTim, @kgbLori, @kgbLuana, @kgbJanny, @kgbStacy, @kgbSchiele, @kgbLindsay, and @kgbRosettaSue

By now, most of you have likely seen both the kgb Super Bowl ad, and Google’s. To my view, Google’s ad actually went a long way toward defining the fundamental difference between kgb — find, and google — search.

The Google ad features a searcher — what you see is the pointer, words being typed into the search field, and the first three or four results. The searcher is sitting at a desktop, and “surfing” as we used to say. That’s fun, useful, and I always learn something new when I do exactly that. We used to call this behavior of finding related information “serendipitous discovery,” and it can be a very cool way to spend time.

kgb, however, provides an immediate answer to a specific question, in minutes, when you need it. You don’t have to be at a desktop, you can be anywhere your mobile phone works, and a human agent answers your question accurately, quickly, and with panache.

So it isn’t one or the other. It’s different.

We aired to spots this afternoon during the pre-game show, and had a huge spike in questions to the kgb542542 service.

This of course bodes very well for what we can expect to happen when our ad runs during the third quarter. And our agents are ready and standing by to answer!

“a texting service that will answer any question you may need to ask — from weather news, to statistics to bet-settling facts like, “Who sold more records, the Rolling Stones or Led Zeppelin?” How do they do it? Specially trained KGB agents are on the other end to find the answers you’re looking for.”
